Andrés Alvarado Avila, B.A.

he/him/él

Andrés works for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as a research coordinator and is the founder and co-chair of Somos Latinx Lideres (SoLL). Andrés graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in Applied Psychology. Briefly, Andrés is passionate about reducing health disparities in the Latinx population through research that informs clinical practice, interventions, and policy. He has vast experience working on research projects that aim to reduce health disparities related to obesity, mental health, and HIV in communities of color. He will be continuing his graduate studies at the Yale School of Public Health to further understand and help address health disparities in Latinx communities and other communities of color. As a first-generation college graduate, Andrés is passionate and dedicated to guiding the younger generation of scholars as they pursue higher education.

Eugenia Ortiz

she/her/hers

Eugenia graduated from The University of Illinois at Chicago in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Psychology and minor in Sociology. During her time there, she presented a Capstone Project entitled "DACA & Higher Education During Trump Era" which explored the unique challenges DACA recipients experienced as college students. She also volunteered at the UIC Crisis Hotline as a paraprofessional liner. After graduation, she began working at Northwestern University in their Counseling & Psychological Services as a Program Assistant. Eugenia plans to go back to school next year for a Master's Degree. Her goal is to obtain my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
